Welcome to the
Dr Musa Hlongwane Foundation

We’re empowering young girls in underprivileged communities and we need your help!

Working Together to Change Lives

At the Dr Musa Hlongwane Foundation, we are making a profound impact in the lives of young girls and their community through the generous support of donors who are dedicated to the cause. Our mission is to equip girls in underprivileged communities with the resources, tools, and support necessary to unleash their full potential and help them to flourish. By focusing on breaking barriers through education, facilitating access to opportunities and providing mentorship, we envision a world where girls can dream without limits and achieve their highest aspirations.

Our ultimate goal is to cultivate a future where empowerment, boundless possibilities and equality thrive through collaborative efforts.

Our Vision

To serve a girl child in underprivileged communities

The Need

Parents of girls in underprivileged areas often struggle to afford school uniforms, sanitary products, food and clothing due to financial constraints. Many families living in impoverished conditions find it challenging to meet basic needs, let alone cover the additional expenses associated with education and personal hygiene. This financial burden especially impacts girls, hindering their access to education and leading to potential health and self-esteem issues.

This is where the Dr Musa Hlongwane Foundation wants to get the community, businesses and organisations involved. You can help support young girls by donating school uniforms, sanitary products, imperishable food and clothing or financially aid the foundation to buy these items on your behalf.

School Uniforms

Many learners today must attend school barefoot and in worn old clothes because their families cannot afford uniforms. This is where caring people like yourself can lend a helping hand and make a difference. Your donation of uniforms and footwear (new or pre-owned) or finances to the Dr Musa Hlongwane Foundation ensures we can distribute these items to those in need.

Sanitary Products and Toiletries

Sanitary hygiene is a basic necessity for girls. However, studies reveal that up to 30% of schoolgirls in South Africa skip class when menstruating because they cannot afford or lack access to sanitary products. Through the Dr Musa Hlongwane Foundation, individuals and organisations can support this worthy cause by donating sanitary pads and toiletries or by contributing financially. We will procure and distribute these essential items at selected schools and communities.

Non-Perishable Food

High inflation is crippling households, impacting the quality and quantity of food available to poorer families. This means that many children are going to sleep hungry – a desperate situation that calls for urgent intervention. The Dr Musa Hlongwane Foundation is actively helping to alleviate their plight and renew hope in these precious lives.

Clothing

It is a basic human right to have food, shelter and clothing. Yet, so many young girls and their families still live in less-than-ideal conditions –their clothes torn and often with no jacket to wear in freezing winter conditions. Here at the Dr Musa Hlongwane Foundation, we want to be part of the solution by restoring dignity to those in need. Because that one, seemingly insignificant child could one day change the world for the better.

Sports Equipment

There are many talented schoolgirls who could compete at the national or international levels in sports, yet are unable to develop their potential because they have no access to the right equipment. This is where donations of sports equipment can have far-reaching effects in the lives of learners. Contact the Dr Musa Hlongwane Foundation today to discuss how you could best contribute to this vital area of need in underprivileged communities and schools.

Other Necessities

They say it is more blessed to give than to receive. This is not only evident in the feeling of satisfaction that comes from giving to others but the profound effect the gift often has on the recipient’s life.

As part of our mandate to help meet the needs of underprivileged girls, we welcome contributions of essential items and other necessities such as stationery to ensure these worthy beneficiaries have every opportunity to succeed and make a positive impact in society.

“Because at the end of the day, the right people fight for you. The right people show up. The right people care, not only when life is convenient, but when it is difficult and messy and it aches all over.”
